This Haitian restaurant truly feels like home! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is very friendly. The food tastes just like it does back in Haiti full of flavor and made with love. As a vegan, I was thrilled to find options like diri djondjon (black mushroom rice), akra (malanga fritters), banane peze vert (fried green plantains), and refreshing passion fruit juice. Everything was delicious and authentic. It’s not always easy to find Haitian restaurants with vegan options, so this place is definitely a gem. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a real taste of Haiti!

I was so excited when a Haitian restaurant opened in Albany. I grew up in Queens so I have loved Haitian food for years. When I finally visited AJW Caribbean Restaurant, I decided on a classic meal: griot (fried pork chunks), diri djon djon (black mushroom rice), banane (fried plantain) and champagne cola soda. It came with a delicious sauce for dipping your griot and pikliz which is like a pickled cole slaw that burns your mouth. It was all delicious! It was enough to eat for dinner that day and lunch the next day. And it cost less than 25.00.

A gem in Albany. The food is fresh, authentic, and very tasty. I had the black rice with chicken in sauce. Portion size is more than enough and every bite was more delicious than the last. Friendly staff who speak English and a relaxing atmosphere. AMAZING HAITIAN FOOD

Stopped in to try some Haitian food and it was great. I Had 3 different meals, fried pork, and a small stewed beef and vegetable stew with beef. The full meals were 15 for a full container of food and rice and a couple freshly fried plantains. The small bowl of vegetable stew was on the house because they wanted me to try a lot. Haha. The Beans and rice were great and I used some extra sauce on the side from the stewed beef which was very tasty. The Fried pork was awesome, it was nice and crispy along with the golden fat covered pork. It came with some nice fresh onions and peppers, it added some color too. The young men and women working wre very friendly and nice. They helped us by explaining what the food was and how it was cooked, all with a big joyful smile. I did not see and desserts or Haitian drinks, that would be a great addition. I will definitely be stopping in again! Thank you for the great tasting food!

Ordered the medium fried pork. Good portion enough for two meals for me. Nice variety of sides. Really likes the spicy pickles. Small suggestions, a little larger size of gravy and pickle would be more perfect!

Authentic food and great atmosphere. The establishment is pretty big. I would recommend having a musician for the weekends or something. Price was fair and I got a lot of food as well.
